Freefall I
Mixed Media on Canvas
72" x 72"
In Freefall I, Haleh Mashian captures the exhilarating tension between gravity and grace. This abstract mixed media painting explores the beauty of surrender through cascading layers of pigment that seem to dissolve midair. Thick impastos of white, blue, and silver descend across the canvas like melting ice or a waterfall in motion, transforming stillness into movement and texture into emotion.
The composition of Freefall I conveys both turbulence and serenity. At the upper edge, paint gathers in dense, frosted ridges that gradually soften as they flow downward, creating an illusion of perpetual descent. The tactile surface shimmers with hints of aqua and pearl, evoking the fleeting transparency of water as it meets light.
Part of Mashian’s Freefall Series, this work continues her exploration of impermanence, transformation, and the physicality of paint itself. Through her sculptural use of texture and dynamic color field, Mashian turns the concept of “falling” into a visual meditation on release—on letting go and finding beauty in the unpredictable.
Ideal for collectors of contemporary abstract art and textural mixed media paintings, Freefall I embodies the essence of Mashian’s practice: movement, depth, and the quiet power of transformation.
