ABOUT HALEH

Haleh Mashian is a contemporary Los Angeles based artist best positioned within the realm of Contemporary Abstract Expressionism with a strong emphasis on materiality, texture, and psychological atmosphere. Her work is defined by dimensional surfaces, sculptural paint applications, and a deep interest in emotional resonance. The Tree Series, Water Series, Rose Series, and other bodies of work are grounded in organic structure, yet remain abstract enough to function as pure visual rhythm. Haleh’s practice stands firmly in the category of artists who bridge fine art and sensory experience, producing pieces that feel both meditative and monumental. She is part of the renewed wave of material-driven abstraction that continues to shape the contemporary market.

Her artistic journey began long before she opened her gallery. After earning a BA in Finance from USC, she exhibited in local and international venues, establishing a distinctive visual language defined by texture, emotion, and color. Over time, Mashian developed a multidisciplinary practice, often composing original piano pieces to accompany her paintings. For her, art and music are inseparable—two expressions of the same emotional truth. This synthesis of sound and image has become a hallmark of her creative identity.

Mashian founded MASH Gallery in 2018 as an extension of her artistic philosophy, creating a space where creativity thrives through connection and collaboration. As both artist and curator, she approaches each exhibition with sensitivity and intuition, selecting works that form a cohesive emotional and visual dialogue. Her curatorial vision centers on thematic exhibitions that explore universal human experiences such as joy, resilience, identity, and transformation through the lens of contemporary art.

Since opening its doors, MASH Gallery has become a vibrant hub within Los Angeles’ art and design community. Mashian has curated exhibitions featuring hundreds of emerging, mid-career, and established artists from around the world, each presented with equal care and intention. Her strength lies in recognizing authenticity and fostering spaces that celebrate artistic exchange, innovation, and inclusion.

Her life story is one of strength and courage. At the age of 20, she made the bold decision to flee the Iranian regime with her 13-year-old brother, crossing the border into Turkey under a different identity. After six months, they reached the United States, where she discovered a life defined by freedom and boundless creative opportunity. The risk she took continues to inform her perspective as an artist and leader, standing as a testament to resilience, vision, and the power of reinvention.

Today, Haleh Mashian continues to expand her artistic practice, uniting painting, music, and curatorial innovation. Through her work and her gallery, she champions creativity as both a personal and collective act—one that uplifts, connects, and transforms.
