Cosmic Cadence by Haleh Mashian depicts a seated female figure in a moment of charged stillness as her form begins to disperse into the surrounding atmosphere. Constructed through layered mixed media, the body emerges from and simultaneously dissolves into a field of pigment, metallic dust, and gestural mark making. The figure’s red hair anchors her presence within the composition, while her torso and limbs fragment into sweeping movements of gold, yellow, and deep green that appear to radiate outward into space.

Mashian’s use of white glue to contour the body introduces a tactile luminosity across the surface, allowing the figure to shimmer against the darker cosmic field that envelops her. Particles of glittered pigment scatter across the canvas like stardust, blurring the boundary between body and environment. The result is a composition that speaks to transformation, energy, and the porous nature of selfhood, where identity becomes something fluid and expansive rather than fixed.
